Collaborative Projects on Somatostatin and Cancer Biology and Therapeutics
In collaboration with the Gastroenterology Clinic (Prof E. Kouroumalis) we investigated the role of somatostatin receptors in hepatocellular carcinoma paradigms, as well as in in vitro Kupffer cell preparations. In addition, in collaboration with Prof Castanas, Prof of Experimental Endocrinology, she investigated opioid-somatostatin interactions in the inhibition of the proliferation of T47D human breast cancer cell line and HepG2 cells. Recently, we initiated collaboration with Dr Krasagakis, Assoc Professor of Dermatology to investigate the use of somatostatin agonists in the treatment of Merkel cell carcinoma.
